Very thorough checklist, Anita. If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a business owner, it’s to always have a itemized checklist for everything. It’s so easy to forget the small but important details.
Great list. Thing is that many in business for years don’t have all these great items!
When do you make models or prototypes of what you are manufacturing? Also do business investors prefer small models or the full sized prototypes of the items? My idea is around 7′ tall and up to 10′ wide and around 18″ deep (A full sized prototype).
you should have both. the small to give your presentation and get in the door with their attention and the full size when they are serious about investing
Great list. thank you
Very good list. Actually the last point is its strongest! Nothing can give you that impact as a good mentor!
Great tips for startup
Great list. Very thorough and precise. It’s going to be of great use to my start-up. Thanks Anita.
Love the long tail! Great list Anita. Just off for a first meeting with a new client with a startup and this list has been invaluable for my preparation. You’re a gem!
Nice list, thank you. Consider adding a dedicated phone line to the list. Maybe a separate business cell phone.

Great list, but some points depend on where you live actually because the regulations are different from place to another.
This is a great list. I have started one business- Zsa’s Ice Cream- and am now setting up to start Clever Little Machine- an industrial design studio. Being 5+ years down the line from starting Zsas I can say that this list is concise. One of the major lessons I have learned is the need for structure and planning to avoid a great many pitfalls later on in the business when you are supposed to be steering the ship and not working out your structure or business partner roles.
What a great checklist. Loved it. It helped me for my start up. I also considering a tool by a businessmental. But your article made me think that I must have a checklist for every items i have in my business. Thanks.
Finely, someone put something out that is worth while and sounds like they know what they are talking about and not just regurgitating the web. Thanks!
A comprehensive article I must say. Recently I came to know the advantages of having a presence in Social Medias. I had a website before but was not much aware also not took it seriously. But it really works if you want to expand your business. Thanks for the share.
